Neuroligin & Neurexin Antibody Explorer Kit (#AK-595) contains specific Nlgn and Nrxn antibodies. Ideal for screening purposes.
Neurexins (NRXNs) are a family of transmembrane, synaptic adhesion molecules. They are largely presynaptic proteins that form a trans-synaptic cell-adhesion complex with postsynaptic neuroligins1. They are encoded by three genes (NRXN1, NRXN2 and NRXN3), each giving rise to various isoforms. The α-isoforms and β-isoforms of each neurexin are single-pass transmembrane proteins maintaining identical transmembrane and intracellular domains but having distinct extracellular domains1.
Neuroligins (NLGNs) are a family of postsynaptic cell adhesion molecules that play an important role in synaptic development and function2. Four genes encode for the different members of the neuroligin family in mammals: NLGN 1-4, which are differentially enriched in postsynaptic specializations of synapses3.
